On May 9 the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia held the grand opening of their new Community Health and Literacy Center at Broad and Morris Streets. The Center houses the CHOP pediatric primary care center; a Philadelphia Department of Public Health community health center; the Free Library’s South Philadelphia branch; and the DiSilvestro Playground and Recreation Center.
The 96,000 square foot, three-story facility has been designed to operate as a neighborhood resource for healthcare, education and recreation. BBA, serving as the MEP engineering consultant on the VSBA-led team, designed energy efficient HVAC and electrical systems for this project. LEED Silver certified.
