SEPTA's Fox Chase station a LEED Silver first
SEPTA’s new Fox Chase Station, which opened in May 2011 has just been awarded LEED for New Construction Silver Certification and is the first train station in the United States to achieve LEED Silver. BBA provided energy modeling and fundamental commissioning on the project, which was designed by The Sheward Partnership.
Another award for Horticultural Center
University of Pennsylvania’s Morris Arboretum Horticultural Center has garnered yet another award. The LEED Platinum project received a Land Development Award in the 2011 Montgomery Awards program sponsored by the Montgomery County Planning Commission. The award acknowledges projects that demonstrate exceptional site planning and design, innovative concepts, environmental sensitivity and sustainability, community enhancements, and successful preservation/restoration. The project team was composed of Overland Partners, m2 architecture, Andropogon Associates and BBA.
BBA at Design on the Delaware
On November 8, lead commissioning authority Will Wright will present “The Business Case for Building Systems Commissioning” with Linford L Good and Michael Gross of Landis Homes. The following day Joe Matje will help lead the Community Design Collaborative’s full-day design charrette as part of Urban Energy, a year-long initiative celebrating 20 years of strengthening neighborhoods through design.
SMPS leadership role
Dorothy Verdon, director of marketing and business development, assumed the dual position of president-elect and programs chair on September 1 for the Philadelphia chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).

Joe Matje on energy design in 2031
Joe, a board member with AIA Philadelphia partner Community Design Collaborative, has authored an article for a related local organization, the Design Advocacy Group (DAG). DAG’s mission is to provide an independent and informed public voice for design quality in the architecture and physical planning of the Philadelphia region. Joe’s article addresses the design process of the future as it relates to energy use, resources and technology. Read all about it in DAGspace, DAG’s monthly online news column.
Riddle Memorial Hospital MOB earns LEED Gold
Designed by The Sheward Partnership, a new 79,000 square foot medical office building at Riddle was recently LEED Gold certified by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). BBA was responsible for fundamental and enhanced commissioning under LEED Core and Shell 2.0.
